WOODRUFF HOMESTEAD
(IN PROGRESS)
WOODRUFF CABIN
The woodruff cabin is the only cabin at Cinder Ridge that is sitting at the same location it was built in the late 1800s. It was purchased in 2020 by Joe and Melissa. The two-story log cabin had been built onto and was three times the size it is now. The house and property were sold at auction when Joe was 10 years old. The new owner stripped away all the additions and left the original log home. The cabin is currently under restoration and we hope to build on a front and back porch with a kitchen and wood frame addition at the end. This homestead is also the site of “Possum Trot Park” which was open to the public back in the 1950s and 1960s.
OTHER STRUCTURES AT ON THE WOODRUFF HOMESTEAD
Other than the Woodruff cabin, we plan to have a cobbler and leather working shop. We will also restore the existing hen house that was used by the Woodruff family. We plan to have gulf-coast sheep at this homestead and the upstairs of the cabin will be a quilting room. The homestead will tell the story of a family who lived there and would raise sheep, make their own wool, and sell fabric, cobbler shoes, and leather work.
